The updated 2018 Honda Accord was officially presented in July 2017, in Detroit Michigan. Its release date is set for fall 2017 with completely redesigned interior and new engine lineup. Two gas engines and one hybrid will be available with improved specs, however it is expected to come with same price tags as before.
The new Honda Accord 2018 comes this fall with refreshed exterior and with long list of standard tech features inside the cabin. Engine lineup is refreshed too. It now includes two new direct injected and turbocharged engines while Hybrid models is also available. On this highly competitive market, main rivals of the new 2018 Accord are going to be Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Volkswagen Passat.

Exterior is redesigned with larger body
The next generation of Accord for 2018-year model comes with wider and lower body while seating is sportier with improved visibility. Compared to its predecessor, it is 0.39 inches shorter but its wheelbase is 2.16 inches longer. Despite shorter length its longer wheelbase offers better comfort and more space inside the cabin, actually 2 inches more of rear leg room. The new Accord comes 0.59 inch lower and 0.39 inch wider.

Depending on trim level, overall car weight is reduced between 110 and 176 pounds. Front fascia is bolder and recognizable by large chrome wing grille that is placed above large air intake. On both sides there are flanked LED headlights with bumper integrated LED foglights. The new 2018 Honda Accord comes in six trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and top Touing. On the other hand, Accord Hybrid will be available in five trims (all standard, except base LX trim level). When it comes to exterior colors, there are still no information, but we will update probably closer to launch of the vehicle.
As we said before, thanks to longer wheelbase there are also more space inside the cabin for passenger legs. Dual-zone automatic climate control system is available for all trims. High quality cloth upholstery is standard, while there is an optional leather upholstery with leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Steering wheel is available with paddle shifters that enhance sporty feeling of the car. Driver seat is powered and it has 12-way adjustable position with height adjustable lumbar support. Both of front seats are heated and ventilated while rear seats can be heated only, but only as an option.
Behind the steering wheel there is an all-new 7-inch TFT driver’s meter with adjustable information. Center stack of all models comes with integrated 7-inch color TFT touchscreen display while there is optional 8-inch touchscreen Display Audio interface. Through Android Auto and Apple CarPlay it comes with smartphone compatibility, while there are Honda Satellite – Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition and Honda HD Digital Traffic system and USB connectivity. Standard audio system is 160 watts with 4 speakers. On the other hand, optional system is 8-speakers with 18 watts while there is Premium 450 watts audio system with 10 speakers and subwoofer.
All Touring models, with both 1.5L and 2.2L engines, come equipped with new 6-speed Head Up Display with customable information. In other words, drivers can chose what to display: speed, turn-by-turn navigation, engine rpm and even Traffic Sign Recognition.
Long list of standard Safety features
All Accord models come equipped with Honda Sensing Driver Assistive suite as standard feature. This system includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with dynamic guidelines and Low Speed Follow system that is available only with automatic transmissions (CVT and 10-speed auto).
Beside long list of front, side and knee airbags there are also long list of advanced active features. This includes Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution. However, list of an optional driver assistive features includes parking sensors on the rear and front, Blind Spot information, Driver awareness monitor and Cross traffic monitor.
Honda Accord 2018 specs – three powertrains
Under the hood of the new Honda Accord 2018 we can see only updates. There are two petrol turbocharged engines and on hybrid drivetrain. Smallest engine is all new 1.5-liter inline-4 with turbocharger that replaces current 2.4-liter naturally aspirated model. This engine produces 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque and it is paired with CVT transmission as standard, while Sport trim is available with 6-speed manual transmission as an option.
Second petrol engine is DOHC direct-injected turbo with 2.0-liter of displacement. It design is based on the engine that we can see under the hood of the 2017 Honda Civic Type R. In Accord it delivers 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Replacing current 2.5-liter V6 in offers 26 horses less and 21 lb-ft of torque more. Standard gearbox for this engine is 10-speed automatic, but Sport trim gets optional 6-speed manual.

The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid powertrain is a combination of 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine paired with Honda’s two electric motors system. Just like before, this electric drivetrain doesn’t require the use of a classic automatic transmission. Lithium Ion hybrid battery pack and containing control systems are located under the rear floor, which preserves space in cargo area and offers better flexibility with folding rear seats. Fuel economy will be announced when launch date is near. Production of the next generation of the Accord Hybrid will be moved back from Japan to Honda’s auto plant in Marysville, Ohio.
2018 Honda Accord price and release date
Release date of the new Honda Accord 2018 is set for fall 2017, exact month will be announced later. Its price tag is just a rumor, but according to other sources of information it will be in range of its predecessor. In other words, its price should start around $23,000 for base LX model while Touring starts around $35,000 without any optional feature. The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid should start just like 2017-year model: around $29,000 for base EX and around $36,000 for top Touring trim.
