The 2018 Nissan Altima comes this year to dealers with small upgrades in safety. It adds couple technology features that are now available with all models as standard. Interior offers same level of comfort as before and considering the fact that changes are minor, price remain the same as 2017 – year model.
New Altima was presented officially in June 2017, and just like its predecessor, it comes with two naturally aspirated engines. Only updated that it brings to us is automatic brake as standard for all models. In the world of crossover and SUVs, the new Nissan Altima 2018 also have to compete with Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Kia Optima and Chrysler 200.

No new details on exterior
Exterior appearance of the current Altima was updated with 2016 – year model. The new 2018 Nissan Altima features LED headlights and LED Daytime running lights on the front fascia. Wider body with deep fenders and sloping rear roofline enhance its aggressive design. It is available in five trim levels: 2.5S, 2.5 SR, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL and 3.5 SL, and there is also Midnight edition, which was available with 2017 – year model. There are eight exterior colors available: Brilliant Silver, Deep Blue Pearl, Glacier White, Gun Metallic, Pearl White, Scarlet Ember, Storm Blue and Super Black.

Interior – subordinate to driver
Interior of the new Nissan Altima 2018 was also updated two years ago. In order to optimize comfort there are Zero Gravity powered front seats, customable in 8 ways for driver’s seat and 4 ways for passenger’s seat. Heating for front seats and steering wheel comes only as an option for lower trims, while on some models it comes as standard. Standard material for upholstery is woven fabric while SL model comes with perforated leather.
On the center stack is located 5.0-inch audio display, and it is standard for all models. 7.0-inch VGA color display comes optionally for 2.5 SL model and standard with 3.5 SL trim. It features radio with 6 speakers as standard, but higher models comes with Bose premium sound system with 9 speakers. Nissan connect infotainment system is available too and it includes Navigation, connectivity for smartphones, Sirius XM, Bluetooth connectivity and Siri Eye voice recognition.
Better safety for the passengers is achieved through good passive features. For that purpose there is Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag system and it includes front and side airbags for front seat occupants and roof – mounted curtain impact air bags. There are some improvements in body construction that improves body rigidity and crumple zone. In order to achieve 5 stars from organizations such as NHTSA there are implemented some technology features. Active safety is secured through couple standard features that are available with all Altima models. These systems are Anti – Lock braking system, Traction control system, Vehicle dynamic control and Tire pressure monitoring system. There are some additional features that are available with higher models such as radar based Blind spot warning, Forward emergency braking, Predictive forward collision warning and Rear cross traffic alert.
Nissan Altima 2018 specs – same things under the hood
There are two engine options for the new Nissan Altima 2018. First, base engine, is smaller one with 2.5-liter of displacement. This DOHC 4-cylinder engine delivers 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Second, bigger engine is 3.5-liter with 270 horses and 251 lb-ft of torque and it is available with 3.5 SL trim. All Altimas come equipped with Nissan’s Xtronic automatic transmission. This CVT gearbox also offers 7 virtual gears in manumatic mode with paddle shifters mounted on steering wheel. Fuel economy varies between 26 mpg of combined drive with 3.5 SL model and 31 mpg for most models with 2.5-liter powerplant.

2018 Nissan Altima release date and price
The 2018 Nissan Altima is released in June 2017 with small upgrades in technology features, which means that some systems are now available with all models as standard. Price tags are remain same as before, since there are no big changes on the vehicle for 2018 – year model. Its price starts from $23,140 for base 2.5 S model while Altima 3.5 SL without any additionally installed package or option comes with base price of $35,510. Those prices are without destination charges, and prices can vary from dealer to dealer.
