The 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor was spotted testing on the public roads wearing camouflage. Just like its competitor, Colorado, it is going to be available with diesel engine and also with off-road variant. This version could be named the Raptor.
The next generation of Ranger was presented at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. This pickup truck from Ford, currently is available on all markets except US. Its competitors from Chevy, Colorado and Canyon (Chevy’s sibling), have a strong selling numbers so logical response from Ford is to offer its main card. Other competition it will have in Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier.
What changes will 2019 Ford Ranger get for USA market?
The new Ford Ranger 2019 is going to be built on the body-on-frame platform. This construction is used for every truck elsewhere in the world. The new Ranger will be a bit smaller than its bigger brother, F-150. Actually, the current crew cab model comes longer than a base model of Ford F-150. Exterior details are actually hidden under the camouflage, what we could see on the spy shots that came on the net.
On the front fascia, we can see thicker grille surrounded with LED headlights. LED taillights are also available on the rear side of the truck. There could be some changes, since from testing to production will pass a lot of time.
Big changes are under the car, and we were able to see them despite the first application of suspension camouflage we have ever seen. According to images, the Ranger Raptor will come with a multi-link coil-sprung rear suspension. The mule was running on same wheels that we can see on the F-150 Raptor. It is also higher than standard Rangers, with a wider track and with wider fenders.
Ford Ranger 2019 diesel specs
According to photographers, the testing Ford Ranger 2019 was sounded like a diesel. According to some rumors and other information from the internet, it is going to be powered by the 3.2-liter Power Stroke inline 5 turbodiesel. In Ford Transit van it produces 185 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. This could be a good rival with a Colorado’s Duramax diesel which is rated at 181 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque.
When it comes to petrol engines, the new 2019 Ranger Raptor could be offered with 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. With 325 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque it offers good performance figures for bigger F-150. For models that need high output engine, there will be 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. It could deliver less power than F150 Raptor, which is offered with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. We expect that it is going to be available with 10-speed automatic transmission, a gearbox that Ford produces in cooperation with GM.
2019 Ford Ranger release date and price
When it comes to release date, we expect that the new Ford Ranger 2019 is going to be launched in late months of 2018, or first months of 2019. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines with also high performance model, Raptor. Price of the 2019 Ford Ranger is still unknown but its start cost should be under $25,000. It has to be competitive with Colorado that starts around $21,000 for the base trim, while well-equipped model comes with $24,500,
