The 2019 Honda Civic for next year will come slightly changed since the new Type R model was presented recently for North America car market. Its specifications will be the same and it is going to be available in all five variants: sedan, five – door hatchback, coupe, Si trim and in high performance Type – R model.
The first model was presented for the first time in 1972 and since then it has gone through couple changes over generations. However, it started as a subcompact but over the years it grown up into compact car segment. The biggest mystery is what Honda’s plans about electric model of Civic are. There are only two versions available – plug – in or regular hybrid. All electric is out of question.
2019 Honda Civic – Sedan, Coupe, Hatchback
As we said before the next generation of the Honda’s Civic will be available in all five body versions. It is going to build on new Honda compact global platform. With previous model the Civic is offered with a fastback exterior design. With this model the C – pillar flowed into the tailgate and it got the big fifth door and better air flow over the body.
Sedan and coupe will come with same trim levels available. That means that both of them will be available in five trims: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L and Touring. LED headlights and taillights are standard for all trims. Auto On / Off function for low and high beams is available but only with Touring trim. According to Honda’s officials the new Civic comes with tight sealed body with premium noise isolation materials. Hatchback version is also available in five trims but with a bit changes. This list starts from base LX and there are also Sport, EX, EX-L Navi and Sport Touring trims. Civic Si model is also available in Sedan and Coupe variants and it is based on EX-T trims.
Just like before, interior is going to be equipped with premium quality materials. Sedan and Coupe models has the largest interior cabin in its compact segment class. Front visibility is excellent thanks to thin front roof pillars. There are some premium comfort features and they are available even with lower trims. This includes remote engine start, dual-zone automatic climate control, electric parking brake, rain-sensor wipers, walk away door locking and heated front seats.
When it comes to infotainment system, only base grades come with smaller 5-inch color LED screen. Other models are equipped with 7-inch touchscreen display with integrated smartphone connectivity. This includes HondaLink feature with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto applications. Base audio system means 4 speakers with 160 watts of power. Other models come with 180 watt 8-speaker audio system.
Active safety features include a long list of standard systems. That means that all models are going to be equipped with Vehicle stability assist with Traction control, Anti-Lock braking system with brake assist and Electronic brake distribution. Tire pressure monitoring system with LED daytime running lights are also available across all models. There are also some of the features and they are available only as an option. This includes Forward collision warning, Collision mitigation braking system, Lane departure warning and Road departure mitigation system. There are some technology features that assists driver and they are also available as an option and this list covers Lane keeping assist system, Honda Lane Watch and Adaptive cruise control with Low-Speed follow.

Two engines with different outputs
Under the hood of the new Honda Civic 2019 we can find two size engines but with couple technologies. That means that there are different power outputs for different models. The smaller 1.5-liter turbocharged engine comes in three power outputs. It can deliver 174 horse power and 167 lb-ft of torque and it is available with Sedan, Coupe and Hatchback variants. This engine can also be found in 180 HP version and it is available only with hatch model. Civic Si comes with same engine but with peak output of 205 horses and 192 lb-ft of torque.
Second engine is 2.0-liter naturally aspirated with 4 cylinders. It produces 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. All Civic models are going to be available with both 6-speed manual transmission as standard and CVT automatic transmission as an option. As usual, Si model comes only with manual transmission.

Honda Civic Type R
The heart of the Type R model is 2.0-liter direct injected and turbocharged inline 4 engine. This turbo bumps its power up to 306 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to 6-speed manual transmission with adjustable automatic rev matching. For better power transfer there is Helical limited-slip differential. Fuel economy is in range of other compact sports cars and it is rated at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
2019 Honda Civic price and release date
Price of the 2019 Honda Civic sedan, coupe and hatchback should start between $19,000 and $20,000 for base LX model while top Touring model comes with a price tag about $26,000. The Honda Civic Si comes with $24,000 price tag. The most expensive Civic is Type R model, and its MSRP price should be around $34,000. When it comes to release date, we expect that the new Honda Civic 2019 will be presented in the first quarter of 2018. Traditionally, main rivals are Toyota Corolla, Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda 3 and Kia Forte.
