2019 Toyota Avalon – Changes, redesign, Hybrid, price – The next generation of Toyota’s Avalon will come with big redesign with 2019 – year model. It is going to be the first big update since its introduction. Hybrid version is going to be available as before, without any changes under the hood.
The Toyota’s Avalon is a full size sedan that was presented to public in 2012 while first facelift was three years later. Next year we expect major update. Release date is not set yet, but we expect that it is going to be officially presented early next year. Main competitors of the new Toyota Avalon 2019 are going to be Chevy Impala, Nissan Maxima, Kia Cadenza, Buick LaCrosse and Hyundai Azera.
2019 Toyota Avalon redesign
There is a hard thing to notice anything under the heavy camouflage that car wears. We can notice the next generation of Avalon will come with a sharper look. Its design remind us on the latest model of Camry. On spy images we can notice small openings on the front grille, but there is a large mouth behind this camo. On the other hand, lower grille opening looks bigger than before. Narrow LED headlights also contribute to the aggressive look.
On the side of the car we can notice lower placement of the sideview mirrors. These mirrors, on the current model, are placed next to A-pillar. On the rear side, under the camouflage, we can notice a trunk lid spoiler and quad exhaust tips. However, they can be fake but we catch curved taillights, while reverse lights are placed on trunk just like before.
According to some information, the new Avalon is going to be built on the stretched Toyota’s TNGA modular platform. Right now, this technology uses C-HR, Prius and Camry. With this platform Toyota’s vehicles gain lower weight, and with combination of lower center of gravity they all have much sportier handling.
There are no rumors about interior of the new Toyota Avalon 2019. The current, 2018-year model comes in five trim levels: base XLE, XLE Plus, XLE Premium, Touring and Limited. Hybrid version is going to be available in three grades as before. We expect the same model lineup with updated version. We do not expect less luxury from next generation of Avalon. This means leather upholstery with soft-touch materials and French stitching as standard. Front seats are going to be powered and adjustable in 10 ways. Higher trims will be equipped with heating and ventilated function.
For better safety, all models will come with Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) system and it integrates couple other safety and vehicles assist systems. It includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. There is also Star Safety System that comes with Anti-lock Brake system, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction control, Vehicle Stability Control and Smart Stop Technology.
Toyota Avalon 2019 specs
Current model of Avalon comes with 3.5-liter V6 engine with Dual VVT-i and it delivers in 2018-year model 301 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. Right now, there is only one transmission available – a 6-speed automatic. We can expect new 8-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission to replace current 6-speeder. There are some rumors that there is going to be available 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with better fuel economy. It could be 2.5-liter inline-4 from Camry that delivers 206 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. Mated to 8-speed automatic gearbox, Camry has fuel economy rated at 29 / 41 / 34 mpg (city / highway / combined).
Hybrid version will also be available, and just like current model, it is going to combine power from the 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine and a high-torque electric motor. This results in 200 horses of total horsepower with 40 mpg of combined fuel economy.
