The new BMW X1 2018 comes with new packages but with same price tags for base models. Interior is luxurious with some new features while its exterior colors are same as before. There are no redesign changes, and it is available only with one engine and two drivetrains.
The BMW X1 is compact – luxury SUV, named by BMW as Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), had its big refresh two years ago. This second generation comes with small upgrades for 2018 – year model. That includes redesigned structure of packages. It comes with one engine choice that shares with 3-series, AWD and with off-road abilities of SUV. This makes the new 2018 BMW X1 competition for long list of cars, such as Buick Encore, Lexus NX Mercedes – Benz GLA and Infiniti QX30.

Three revamped packages – no other changes
There are two models available, sDrive28i and xDrive28i, and their only difference is in their drivetrain. In other words, the new X1 comes in only one base trim but there are five available packages for personalization of the base look of the vehicle. This list includes next packages: Convenience Package – ZCV (first tier package), M Sport Package – ZMP (includes all Convenience Package content from previous model) and Premium Package – ZPP, and this is second tier that means it requires one of the packages from first tier. Compared from its predecessor we can notice that Cold Weather Package and Technology Package are no longer available and their contents are included with other packages or as single options.

Available colors and standard features
Exterior look depends on chosen package and there are eleven exterior colors available, eight metallic (Dark Olive Metallic, Sparking Brown Metallic, Chestnut Bronze Metallic, Mediterranean Blue Metallic, Estoril Blue Metallic (only with M Sport Package), Glacier Silver Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Mineral Gray Metallic, Mineral White Metallic) and two non-metallic colors (Alpine White and Jet Black).
Standard details for new X1 include non-metallic paint with Matte chrome exterior trim. On the front fascia is recognizable by BMW’s kidney grille surrounded by Halogen headlights while LED technologies are only as an option. It runs on Y Spoke 18 – inch light alloy wheels as standard, while 19-inch wheels are optional.
According to BMW technicians, the new BMW X1 2018 is the roomiest vehicle in its class. Front seats are powered and adjustable in 8 ways, while seats and rearview mirror comes with memory function. Inside the cabin, standard is SensaTech upholstery while steering wheel is made of leather, while perforated Dakota leather trim is available with one of the packages. With base model it comes with Advanced Vehicle & Key Memory feature that controls temperature and air distribution inside the vehicle through automatic climate control. On the center stack there is a 6.5-inch touchscreen display but there is optional 8.8-inch Control Display that also offers Advanced Real-Time Traffic information. Standard audio system includes 7 loudspeakers, but on the other hand, available premium Harman Kardon HiFi sound system integrates 12 speakers with 360 watts of output.
Safety and driver – assist features
The former Driver Assistance Plus package is now part of current packages, but its features are also available with 2018 BMW X1. This includes Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning with Pedestrian Warning, Speed Limit Info and City Collision Mitigation. There is also Park Distance Control with Rear – View camera, which through the Control Display makes parking much easier and comfortable.
Safety of the passengers is improved through Dynamic Stability Control system that integrates couple of safety features. That includes Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assist system, Brake Fade Compestaion, Cornering Brake Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control, Brake Drying Braking and Performance control.
New BMW X1 2018 specs and price
The 2018 BMW X1 is available with only one engine and it was launched two years ago. This is 2.0-liter inline-4 with TwinPower turbocharger and it delivers 258 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission while there is only one option between FWD (front-wheel-drive) and AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. When it comes to fuel economy it is rated at 23 mpg in the city for FWD and 22 mpg for AWD. Highway drive improves those numbers and it is rated 32 mpg and 31 mpg on the highway for FWD and AWD systems. The new X1 with AWD system comes with better acceleration: 6.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, compared to 6.6 seconds for FWD.

Price tag of the new BMW X1 2018 varies and it depends on model and chosen package. The base sDrive28i with FWD comes with start price of $33,900 while xDrive28i model is $2,000 pricier. Those prices are MSRP without $995 of destination charges.
